Abstract
This paper presents a comprehensive review of energy management
techniques in smart microgrids, highlighting their evolution, challenges, and
opportunities. It examines advancements in demand-side management, energy
storage systems, renewable energy integration, artificial intelligence
applications, and blockchain-based decentralized energy trading. The review
underscores the critical role of emerging technologies in addressing challenges
such as renewable energy variability, economic barriers, and cybersecurity
risks. Additionally, it identifies opportunities for innovation through hybrid
energy systems, vehicle-to-grid solutions, and supportive policy frameworks.
The study aims to provide a holistic understanding of the current landscape and
future potential of smart microgrid energy management strategies.
